TSC begins the process of replacing all the Dismissed JSS Intern Teachers: The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has initiated the replacement of 742 Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers. TSC dismissed the 742 intern teachers from all over the country recently. This move follows a period of uncertainty and dissatisfaction among the affected educators.
Many pioneer JSS teachers have stopped working
In Kisii, many pioneer JSS teachers from various schools have been forced to stop reporting to work.
TSC has replaced them with new teachers, significantly disrupting their professional and personal lives.

This transition occurred just two weeks after JSS teachers had resumed classes and were awaiting confirmation from their employer.
Most affected regions
The dismissals have had a severe impact on teachers in regions like Bomachoge Chache and South Mugirango in Kisii County.
In Ikoba, Bomachoge Chache, 33-year-old Kerubo expressed her despair after being barred from returning to her school.

Despite being a pioneer JSS teacher, she has been confined to her home for three days. She is struggling to cope with the unexpected directive.
“We were on an industrial strike and returned after re-tooling. However, the head teacher told my friends and me that we shouldn’t report back to school,” she said.
Kerubo’s situation is dire; she lives in a single room, relying on leftover food and sugarcane for sustenance.

The government must intervene
She urged the government to address her plight and that of her colleagues, many of whom are the primary breadwinners for their families.
“The Teachers Service Commission should observe transparency. Now I have been fired, and I have a child to send to school. How will I manage this?” she lamented.
