TSC Breakdown of July 2024 Salary Increment per Job Group: The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has outlined the July salary increments for teachers. These increments are part of a phased increase in wages agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
TSC will implement the second phase of salary increment in July
The SRC has decided on a three-step increase in the projected wage raise, with the second phase set to begin in 2024.
As part of the TSC’s revised grading system, some job groups have been eliminated and others will be consolidated effective July 2024.

This reorganization affects various TSC teacher job categories and salary levels. It ranges from Chief Principals, the highest paying position, to Primary Teacher I, the lowest.
TSC wage structure in 2024
The wage structure for TSC teachers in 2024 will be implemented in two stages. The first phase started on July 1, 2023 while the second increment phase is set to begin on July 1, 2024.
These increments apply to active teachers currently in service.

The TSC’s salary structure varies significantly across different titles, which include:
– Chief Principals
– Senior Principals
– Principals
– Deputy Principals
– Senior Masters
– Lecturers
– Teachers in other capacities
How TSC pays different cadres
For instance, Chief Principals earn between Ksh. 131,380 and Ksh. 159,534, reflecting the top end of the pay scale.
Conversely, Primary Teachers II, who currently earn ksh. 22,793, are expected to see their salaries increase to Ksh. 28,491.

Other roles, such as Senior Lecturers, Senior Masters, and Deputy Head Teachers, also fall within this varied pay structure.
Other allowances
Besides the basic salaries, the TSC provides various increments and reimbursed allowances.
These compensatory allowances are included in the monthly salary and are designed to cover per diem quotas and travel expenses for teachers who apply for them.

The phased implementation of the 2024 CBA aims to address the longstanding issue of low salary increments for teachers.
