School Reopening Maybe Postponed: The Ministry of Education, under the leadership of Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, has issued a directive urging regional education heads. He has instructed them to conduct an assessment of the ongoing flooding situation.
Addressed to the regional directors of education, the memo emphasized that the outcomes of these assessments would heavily influence the Ministry’s decision regarding the resumption of school activities on Monday, April 29.
Factors that the Ministry of Education will consider
The severe rains that recently hit the country’s schools and caused extensive damage is one of the factors taken into account. The memo underscored the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to gather data and information to evaluate the preparedness of all Basic Education Institutions for the upcoming second term of 2024.
