How to Check TSC Pension Status Online: All the Requirements

How to Check TSC Pension Status Online: It is essential to know how to access your TSC pension online, both before and after retirement. We plan to retire from our government or private sector jobs when we get older. The mandatory retirement age in Kenya is 60 years (or 65 years for people who are abled differently).

The state pension can cover your essential living expenses. For those who don’t want to tap into their pension, there are plenty of ways to augment their income. The retirement money, however, will serve as a stepping stone to better opportunities, depending on how creative you are.

TSC has laid out the requirements for teachers to retire once they reach the age of 60. Two years before the teacher’s retirement date, the Commission will notify them. The Commission may, in its discretion, reduce the length of the retirement notice under specific conditions.

How to apply for early retirement

Once a teacher reaches 50 years old and has worked consistently for at least 10 years on permanent and pensionable terms, they are eligible to apply for retirement in writing. This is called voluntary retirement. A teacher must submit this application to the head of the institution along with a three-month notice period and the designated retirement date.

After TSC receives the retirement application, they will review it and then send a notification of retirement. After that, the teacher submits the required paperwork. Then the commission will process their retirement claim.

When the commission reviews and approves the claim, they will send funds to treasury’s Director of Pensions for payment.

Things needed after retirement notice

A teacher must meet the following obligations upon receipt of the retirement notice:

As specified in the notice, submit all the required documents.

Fill out all of the necessary information about their bank account using the forms available.

They have the option to commute up to 25% of their pension.

Make sure they pay all of their taxes.  They can confirm with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

To make sure that they retire without a hitch, teachers must follow these steps.

However, you must also be aware of the online process for verifying your TSC pension status. Several options exist for checking your TSC pension status online. You can always do it at the click of the button.

How to Verify Your TSC Pension Status

The National Treasury of Kenya is mandated by the Kenyan Constitution of 2010, the Public Management Act of 2012, and Executive Order No. 2/2013. One of its main roles is to handle pension claims for government employees who have retired.

Before you apply for pension from the National Treasury, you need to gather the necessary paperwork and submit them to the head of the HR department. The important documents include:

Provide two copies of your government-issued photo ID.

Two pay slips per year, at the very least.

Certified TSC Retirement Clearance Document, Appendix ‘E’, Form for Official Secrets Act Declaration, and a fully filled out pension commutation and address form

A copy of your Bank plate.

Fully filled out wealth declaration form.

Submitting your paperwork to the National Treasury will expedite your pension claims process. This will allow you to begin earning your pension in no time.

You should check your TSC pension status periodically because this process can take a while. Enter your TSC, ID, or passport number into the TSC Services portal or on the TSC website to make this happen. Your TSC pension number can also be used as a membership number.

You can verify your TSC pension status by going to that page and clicking the Search button. It is as easy as that.

From time to time, the National Treasury posts a list of processed TSC pensions on the website. So, keep an eye for your name. Be on the lookout at all times.

Put the 12-digit pension payment order that the Central Pension Accounting Office gave you into the online pension status checker.

How can one determine their TSC pension amount?

Treasury calculates it by dividing your years of service or length of employment by the average salary, dividing by 80. You then receive a lump sum that is equivalent to three times your pension. To get an exact estimate, use an online pension calculator to determine what your monthly pension payout would be.

How to find your pension number

You can find your pension number in the “payroll and compensation” section of your employee self-service account (T-Pay). After that, you’ll be able to see the most current pay slip along with your “P-9 form.” Bear in mind that your payroll member number may also be your pension number.
