A report made yesterday at Kiamaciri Police Station in Mwea West Sub County, Kirinyaga County indicates that yet another police officer has taken his own life in the most brutal way. His name is Donfan Wanyaga Njoroge.
His young wife by the name Leah Wangui Wanyaga is the one that made the heartbreaking report on the untimely demise of her husband. Leah is a resident of Kufunga village, Kiamaciri Sub Location, Mutithi Location within Mwea East Sub County.
She made the report which was noted under OB NO. 33/27/7/2021 at 1856 hrs. at the police station. According to Miss Wangui, her husband Police Constable Donfan Wanyaga Njoroge (No. 91633) committed suicide.
Donfan was a young Kikuyu man aged 33 years. He was a police officer stationed at KAPU JKIA, Embakasi.
Police officers from Kiamacari Police station and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers from Mwea West visited the scene.
The officer established that the deceased officer had indeed hanged himself using a sisal rope from the roof inside his bedroom house. However, the body had no visible injury and no suicide note was found near the scene.
It was later discovered that he had attempted to commit suicide on 26/07/2022 by taking Baraki rat and mouse pellets. This went unreported.
A will dated 26/07/2022 on how his properties will be shared was also recovered but it was not clear when he had written it. After documenting the scene, Donfan’s body was moved to Kibugi Funeral home awaiting postmortem by the government pathologist.
Cases of police officers taking their own lives have become rampant. Just the other day, screenshots of posts of a depressed police officer by the name Manyasi went viral online. Manyasi had alleged that his boss was frustrating him and he contemplated suicide.
