Nyabigena Boys High School Student Hospitalized After Being Beaten By A Teacher (PHOTOS)

St Joseph’s Nyabigena Boys High is a well performing school located in Gucha South Sub-County in Kisii County. Controversy rocked the school in 2019 when a student died of injuries after being beaten by a prefect. The student passed on at Tabaka Mission Hospital where he had been admitted.

The then Form Three student is said to have collapsed and died after he was allegedly slapped severally by one of the school prefects who was in Form Four that year.

It looks like the culture of corporal punishment is still rife in the school. Photos of another young boy from the same school who was allegedly beaten by a teacher to an extent of being admitted in a hospital have surfaced online.

He was rushed to the hospital where he finally managed to gain consciousness after treatment. He is still admitted in the hospital with some injuries in the head and other body parts.

When his parent heard about it, she went to the hospital to inquire what happened to her son. The report she was given was that he was injured while playing soccer.

Student-teacher conflicts have been on the rise. Early this year, a student stabbed two teachers at Kisii School. The student turned up late for a preps lesson but he did not want to be questioned. Apparently, the boy did not want to be in the school and he had requested his mother to transfer him to another school.
