“We Will Bury Her Normally!” Caroline Kangogo’s Family Dismisses The Suicide Note

Caroline Chemutai Kangogo has been the talk of the town since her dramatic demise on 16th July, 2020. The former cop became a fugitive after killing her fellow police officer John Ogweno and a security consultant by the name Peter Njiru in quick succession.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had stepped up their hunt for the killer cop and her photos had spread all over the internet.

When she discovered that things were going against her and that it was just a matter of time before she was apprehended, she sought the services of veteran lawyer John Khaminwa. Khaminwa pleaded with the court to order that the 34-year-old mother of two must not be arrested if she presented herself in court.

Just before Kenyans came to terms to her demands, her lifeless body was discovered in an outdoor bathroom in her rural home in Elgeyo Marakwet County. It was her own mother Leah Kangogo that discovered the body while doing her routine cleaning of the compound in the morning.

While cleaning up the ugly scene, the police detectives discovered a comprehensive suicide note written as draft messages in the deceased’s ‘kabambe’ phone. In the much talked about suicide note, she had revealed how she was not in good terms with her father because of her failed marriage.

She also wrote some demands on how she wanted to be buried. The beautiful lady wanted her body to be dressed in a wedding gown before being cremated.

Robert Kipkorir, who is the family spokesperson, has dismissed the demands while saying that their daughter will be buried according to the Christian customs since she was a staunch Christian. He also dismissed claims that Caroline was in bad books with her father Barnaba Korir. According to Robert, the two had a wonderful relationship.

Community members, relatives, and friends are already having meetings at Mzee Barnaba’s home to make funeral arrangements. If there is a demand made in the suicide note that looks like it will be fulfilled, then it is the one where she requested to be buried at her parent’s home in Elgeyo Marakwet. She was categorical that she would not wish to be buried at her estranged husband’s home in Kericho.
