Ruto Rigged The Kiambaa By-elections; David Murathe Claims

The Jubilee Party vice-chairman David Murathe has claimed that they won the just-concluded parliamentary by-elections in Kiambaa. Murathe was speaking in a press conference at the Jubilee headquarters in Nairobi after a strategy meeting meant to discuss the merits and demerits of the part’s performance in those elections.

Murathe who is known for his abrasive nature told journalists that the UDA party stole their victory in Kiambaa because the results they have from all polling stations show that the Jubilee candidate Kariri Njama won against Kawanjiku of UDA.

It is not yet clear whether they will contest those results in court but some elements within Jubilee feel that IEBC changed the final tally of the results. According to them, Ruto has infiltrated the commission and he controls it as currently constituted. They feel that Chebukati is Ruto’s man and should be kicked out of the commission if it is to conduct a free and fair general election.

UDA put up an impressive show in Kiambaa given that it is the stronghold of President Uhuru Kenyatta. William Ruto has managed to move with half of the Kikuyu nation to his new political party. This by-election has been interpreted as a supremacy war between the president and his deputy.

Ruto is now the undisputed King of the Mountain and that has been a bitter pill to swallow by the president and his men because an outsider has managed to turn his people against him.

According to Murathe, they have agreed in their meeting to restructure the party from the grass root to the national level to re-energize the party in preparation for the upcoming general elections.

Jubilee is currently negotiating with ODM with a view of forming a formidable coalition that will win the presidential elections scheduled for August next year.
