Prof Kisiangani Sends This Warning To Raila Over Mt Kenya Votes

Following a good meeting with the Mt Kenya Foundation earlier this week, Kenyatta University Don Prof Edward Kisiangani has advised ODM leader Raila Odinga not to think he has the entire support of Mt Kenya.

Prof Kisiangani, a seasoned political observer, believes that MKF’s endorsement of Raila is insufficient because its leaders are no longer as influential as they once were.

The professor is one of the bright Kenyans advising Deputy President William Ruto, and he believes Raila still lacks the regional backing.
“Raila Odinga is free to seek endorsement from Mt Kenya tycoons for 2022. The only problem is that these tycoons can’t even persuade their staff to vote for RAO. Runda and Muthaiga do not have enough votes to elect a single President,” tweeted Prof Kisiangani.

His remarks came after Mount Kenya tycoons led by Royal Media Services (RMS) Founder, SK Macharia, backed Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in 2022 at a ceremony held at Safari Park Hotel on Tuesday.

William Ruto’s Hustler Narrative

While Raila was busy with billionaires, William Ruto met with low-income earners to advance his bottom-up agenda. The deputy president denied fanning class conflicts by meeting with hustlers.

He spoke at the funeral of Richard Kaguchia Gichohi, father of Nyeri County Assembly Speaker John Kaguchia, at Mukurweini in Nyeri County. The DP stated there should be no struggle or dispute when he meets with “hustlers”. He is planning on how to cater for their interests if he forms the next administration.

“We have democracy in Kenya and the right to choose our political party. It is acceptable for the wealthy to support a specific politician in order to defend their property. However, my encounters with the hustlers should not be construed as class warfare or incitement,” Ruto stated.

The former Prime Minister and his supporters have criticized heavily Ruto’s bottom up approach.

The Mt. Kenya billionaires have a tremendous influence in presidential elections and we cannot ignore that fact. Would you agree with Prof. Kiasiangani that the billionaires have no say in the upcoming elections?
