A Kenyan American identified as Thomas Oyaro Magwamu was brutally murdered by unkown people. Unidentified people threw his mangled body parts in a trading centre in Nyamira County, in a gunny bag.
The horrible murder of their kin stunned family and friends in Kenya and America. He had vanished on September 12, 2021. Boda boda riders discovered his remains on October 18, 2021, near Konate in Nyamira County. This is about 65 kilometres from where he was last seen alive.
Mr. Thomas Oyaro Magwamu, a resident of Arlington, Texas, was in Kenya for his annual leave. He saw his children, wife, parents, and relatives. He died in the hands of murderers whose intentions have not yet been revealed.
The police are still conducting investigations to apprehend the perpetrators who executed him in cold blood. They cut his body parts and placed them in a gunny bag.
Thomas Oyaro was kind and caring
According to those who knew him, Thomas Magwamu was a very kind and caring person. He worked extremely hard to assist his family back home. He was also a loyal Kenyan community member in the diaspora. The guy never missed a community function, especially to help the bereaved and the sick.
Thomas traveled for Kenya on the 12th of August 2021 via Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. This is according to his closest friend and roommate, Mr. Nemwel Semo.
He was planning to return to the United States on September 22, 2021. The deceased arrived in Kenya safely and his family, which included his wife, children, close relatives, and friends received him.
He used to speak regularly with his friend Mr. Nemwel Semo, who also lives in Arlington, Texas, and other pals in the United States.
On the 5th of September 2021, he communicated with Nemwel Semo through a phone call for the last time.
On September 12, 2021, Nemwel received a phone call from Mr. Thomas Magwamu’s wife in Kenya. She informed him she had desperately tried to reach her husband on his phone. But he was not answering. So she asked Mr. Nemwel to contact him.
Mr. Nemwel called Mr. Magwamu many times; the phone rang, but no one answered. It was after 11 p.m. East African time, which translates to 3 p.m. Central Standard Time (US).
Mr. Nemwel Semo attempted to call him the following day, September 13th, 2021, but the phone was turned off.
Thomas Oyaro remains dropped in Nyamira
Fast forward to October 18th, 2021, between 3 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., at Konate area in Nyamira County, a saloon car purportedly with 5 people, 3 ladies in the back seat and 2 men, a driver and another on the passenger seat, dropped a piece of luggage in a gunny bag and sped away.
Next to where the unidentified people dropped the bag is a Motor Bike station. Boda boda operators wait here to pick up passengers and drop them off at various locations in the area. Those that were there were curious.
They opened the gunny bag, and they were astounded to find human remains; a mutilated torso in the bag but no head. They called the cops right away and notified them of the contents of the bag.
The next morning, the police arrived and transported the torso to the Nyamira County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
The disfigured body, which no one recognized, was left at the Mortuary. Because no one claimed it, the police extracted the fingerprints. They sent the specimen to Nairobi, where it was discovered that the torso belonged to Mr. Thomas Oyaro Magwamu.
The police officers notified the family of the events, which were difficult to comprehend but it had happened. A very sad story.
