Revised 2024 Co-curricular Activities Calendar for Kenyan Schools

The revised 2024 co-curricular activities calendar of events applies to primary schools, junior secondary schools, senior secondary schools and teachers’ training colleges. It is a calendar for national co-curricular activities in both Term One and Term Two 2024.

Team One Co-curricular activities

Machakos County will host the secondary school sports. The sports include Rugby15s, Athletics, Basketball 5×5, Hockey, Handball, Cross Country and swimming. They will take place from 6^th to 14^th April 2024. There will be a clinic to brief referees from 6^th to 8^th April, 2024. Teams from different regions of Kenya will arrive on 7^th April 2024 but the actions days will be from 9^th to 13^th April 2024. The departure date will be on 14^th April 2024.

Secondary Special Schools Sports

The secondary special schools sports will take place in Rift Valley Region and the host county is Nakuru. They will take place from 6^th to 12^th April 2024 with the clinic for referees taking place from 6^th to 7^th April. The action days will be from 9^th to 11^th April 2024 and all schools will depart the venue on 12^th April.

Primary Schools and Primary Special Schools Athletics

Regular primary schools and primary special schools only compete in athletics in Term One. The regular primary schools will be flocking to Central Region’s Nyeri County for the activity from 6^th to 12^th April 2024. The referees’ clinic will take place from 6^th to 7^th April 2024. Teams will arrive on 7^th April 2024 and compete from 9^th to 11^th April 2024. The departure day will be on 12^th April 2024.

As for the primary special schools, the competitions will be in Nakuru City of Rift Valley. The dates are the same as those of the regular primary schools but the departure date will be on 13^th April 2024.

Junior School activities

For the first time this year, junior secondary schools will conduct their activities independently. They will compete in Athletics, Cross Country, Basketball 5×5, handball and swimming. The national junior school games for Term One will take place from 6^th to 12^th April 2024. Just like the primary schools, the referees’ clinic will take place from 6^th to 7^th April 2024. Teams will arrive on 7^th April 2024 and compete from 9^th to 11^th April 2024. The departure day will be on 12^th April 2024.

National Drama and Film Festival

The host Region for the 2024 national drama and film festival is Eastern. The event will take place in Kangaru School and Embu University in Embu County from 7^th to 19^th April 2024. Teams will report on 7^th April 2024 and the action days will be from 8^th to 16^th April 2024. The State Concert for a few selected winning items will be on 18^th April 2024 after which teams will depart the venue on 19^th

April 2024.

Science and Engineering Fair

The national science and engineering fair for Kenyan secondary schools will take place in Nairobi City. Moi Girls High School Nairobi will host the event from 6^th to 12^th April 2024. Teams will arrive on 6^th April 2024, compete from 8^th to 11^th April then depart on 12^th April 2024.

Kenya Teachers Colleges Games

Ball games, Goal Ball, Athletics and Paralympics for Kenya Teachers Colleges will take place in Machakos County of Eastern Region. The events will kick off in Machakos TTC from 3^rd to 13^th June 2024.

Term Two Co-curricular activities

Secondary schools’ term two sports will take place in Kisii. The games include soccer, volleyball, netball, rugby 7s for boys and girls, badminton, table tennis, tennis and basketball 3×3. Kisii County of Nyanza Region will host the activities from 29^th July to 7^th August 2024.

Junior Schools’ ball games will also be hosted by Kisii County in Nyanza Region from 30^th July to 7^th August 2024. The games will include soccer, volleyball, netball and basketball 3×3,

Secondary special schools Term Two sports will be held at Kisumu County in Nyanza Region from 30^th July to 7^th August 2024.

Primary schools’ ball games will take place from 30^th July to 7^th August 2024 in Western Region, Kakamega County. Special primary schools’ ball games will take place on the same dates. However, the special schools will be hosted in Kericho County, Rift Valley Region.

Kenya Music Festival 2024

This year’s Kenya Music Festival for all educational institutions will take place from 2^nd to 14^th August 2024. Rift Valley Region will host again as the event will take place in Moi Girls Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. It will be followed by the East Africa Music, Dance and Drama which will take place in Jinja, Uganda from 15^th to 24^th August 2024.

Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association Championship will take place at Bukedia Comprehensive & Amus College. This is found in Eastern Uganda. The dates will be from 14^th to 25^th August 2024.

ISF-World Cross Country Championship will take place from 10^th to 15^th May 2024 at Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi, Kenya.
