Senator James Orengo of Siaya County has stated that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party will begin distributing nomination soon. The party will give the certificates based on their members’ track record of fighting for democracy in the country.
Orengo chastised his Siaya gubernatorial opponents, Charles Owino and Nicholas Gumbo at a funeral. They were attending the burial of popular artist Big Mic. The outspoken lawyer told them they will not have a straightforward path into the party.
The two politicians are running for Siaya County’s governor seat. James Orengo wants them to know that they will not be treated favorably because they abandoned Raila Odinga in 2018.
“I have to speak politics here without mincing my words. We are now seeking power and Raila is receiving support from all around the country,” Orengo remarked.
“At the moment, over five governors from the greater Mount Kenya region have thrown their support behind Raila Amollo Odinga. If you go to Mombasa, you will find Joho supporting Raila. In Kilifi, they elected Amason Kingi on the ODM ticket,” he added.
Orengo stated that with these endorsements from well-known politicians, people who are still trying to create a name for themselves should always support ODM.

“Oparanya, too, is in ODM to stay. But where were all these gubernatorial hopefuls the day Raila was sworn in at Uhuru Park with threats of arrest?” he asked.
“Did you see them there? Even recently, President Uhuru Kenyatta stated unequivocally that the country’s leadership cannot be handed over to crooks. If Uhuru can support Raila, who are you to oppose ODM?” asked Orengo, amid chants from the burial attendants.
In short, those who did not attend Baba’s swearing in should not be very sure about landing ODM tickets.
Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga Amoth declared he will favour no one. He will support whoever has not been plotting his downfall.
The politicians were attending the burial of the son to wealthy entrepreneur Joe Adewa of Ugenya constituency.
Orengo told Siaya voters that now is the moment to devote all their efforts into backing Raila.
“We cannot afford to desert RAO at this critical moment. Many leaders from Mount Kenya, the Rift Valley, the Western and Coast have supported him. Let us support his fifth bid for the country’s top job,” Orengo asserted.
