How to Apply for a TSC Number Online, Latest Guide

You graduated recently and you would wish to apply for your TSC certificate, commonly known as TSC number. The process has been simplified and it is done online unlike a few years ago when it used to be done manually.

For you to proceed with the application, make sure you have the following documents ready:
  1. National ID Card
  2. Your professional and academic certificates. The academic requirements for TSC registration include your degree or diploma certificate, academic transcripts, KCSE certificate, and KCPE certificate.
  3. KRA PIN Certificate
  4. Your filled GP69 Medical form
  5. Evidence of payment of registration fees (Bank slip)
  6. Current certificate of good conduct
  7. A passport-size photo
  8. Copies of entry and work permits for non-Kenyan citizens
  9. The basic registration fee is KES 1055. KINDLY NOTE THAT SINCE 1ST JULY 2023, APPLICATION FEES IS NOW PAID DURING THE PROCESS THROUGH GOVERNMENT PAY BILL BUSINESS NUMBER 222222 OR APPROVED GOVERNMENT METHODS.

You may proceed with your online application if you have all the scanned documents ready in your computer or tablet. The application is done though the link https://tsconline.tsc.go.ke/register.

It is important to note that TSC no longer accepts paper applications as opposed to the past. Everything is done online through the user friendly portal.

How to apply for TSC number online
  1. Visit the official TSC website https://www.tsc.go.ke/
  2. Click on the “ONLINE SERVICES” tab. You will access a drop-down menu with various tabs.

  1. Click the “Teachers Online” tab on the drop-down menu. The link https://teachersonline.tsc.go.ke/ will open a new page for you as per the screenshot below.

  1. Click the “New Teacher Registration:- Citizen” tab (the one highlighted red in the screenshot above).
  2. This will lead you to a new landing page https://tsconline.tsc.go.ke/register/new-registration?reg_type=0 .
On the TSC registration landing page, you will come across the following instructions;

 

“Important Notes for Applicants (TSC Does Not Accept Paper Applications).

  1. All sections of this registration application MUST be completed in full.
  2. Please fill in all the required information.
  3. It is a serious offence to willfully give false information to the Teachers Service

      Commission. The law provides that any person convicted of the offence may

      be fined up to Ksh 100,000 or imprisoned for Twelve (12) months or both

      (Section 44 of TSC Act No. 20 of 2012).

  1. You can save part of this form and complete it on a later time if necessary.
  2. Scan and Attach Only the Required Documents:
  3. Only original documents should be scanned and uploaded.
  4. For Expatriate Teachers, attach a letter of clearance from Ministry of Education Vetting Committee.
  1. For New Registration a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 1050/- paid during the process through E-Citizen government payment methods (MPesa, Airtel Money, KCB Cash,Equity Cash, E-Agent) is required before submitting your application.
  2. For Duplicate Certificate Application a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 2050/- paid during the process through E-Citizen government payment methods (MPesa, Airtel Money, KCB Cash,Equity Cash, E-Agent) is required before submitting your application.”

  1. On the right section of the landing page, fill your details carefully. In the category section, select whether you an ECDE, primary or post primary teacher. After selecting your category, you will have access to two questions asking you whether you are a trained teacher. Another one will ask whether you have completed your teaching practice. Select “Yes” for both.
  2. In the “KCSE/ KCE/ KACE/ EACE/ EAACE Mean Grade” section, select your grade from the drop-down menu and your year of sitting on the right then click Next.

  1. On clicking next, you will receive a 4-digit code as a onetime password (OTP) on the email that you used to register. Enter the code and it will lead you to a new page where you will enter all you basic details as per the screenshot below.

  1. Click next after filling all your basic details. You might encounter the “Integrity constraint violation (#23000)” but do not worry. This is just a common internal server error that occurs when applying for a TSC number. You may reload the page or simply go back and click next again after confirming your details.
  2. Enter the relevant certificate details (institution, from, to, specialization, certificate number, etc.) for each document you upload before clicking the “add file” button as indicated below.

To upload your subsequent document, click “Save Documents.” Remember to resize your documents using any relevant software like “Paint” since the portal does not accept large sized files more than 1MB. Upload the documents as one pdf. Even if you have them in JPEG format, just insert them in Microsoft word them save them as pdf files.

13. After uploading everything, a page will appear asking you questions about the subjects you studied and personal details like whether you have ever been kicked off of the service. You will be required to input the Pay-in-slip number and the payment details (payment mode) on the same page. Enter the data by typing it carefully.
