How KNUT is Sabotaging Intern Teachers’ PnP Confirmation by TSC: The Kenya Junior School Teachers Association (KeJuSTA) has leveled serious accusations against the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT). It has alleged that the union is obstructing their efforts to secure confirmation and fair compensation for junior school teachers.

In a notice issued on May 25, 2024, KeJuSTA detailed these confrontations. According to the notice, KNUT’s Secretary-General Mr. Collins Oyuu is actively working against the interests of junior school teachers.

KeJUSTA has no association with KNUT

KeJuSTA made it clear that they have no association with KNUT. Besides, they do not plan to form any alliances in the future. They advised their members to ignore any advice from KNUT, deeming it ill-intentioned.

“Any advice from KNUT is ill-intentioned, and no one should listen to them whatsoever,” the notice stated.

The association also announced plans to file a lawsuit on Monday, May 27, 2024. This lawsuit will challenge the legality of certain letters in circulation. They claim that their organization did not issue the letters.

KeJUSTA advised JSS moguls not to collect show-cause letters

KeJUSTA instructed teachers not to collect these letters from sub-county directors’ offices. They should disregard any directives communicated via unofficial channels like WhatsApp.

“No one is required to pick any letters from the SCDs offices within the country,” they emphasized.

KeJuSTA, through their Secretary-General Daniel Murithi, reassured teachers that they would receive official communication directly from the association.

They expressed gratitude for the teachers’ solidarity and urged them to continue their protest by staying away from schools.

JSS Moguls must be resilient

Murithi highlighted the necessity of resilience and determination in their struggle for fair treatment. He promised that their efforts would eventually be rewarded with a fair resolution for all affected teachers.

“In case a letter is sent via WhatsApp, ignore the sender and blue-tick,” he advised.

Furthermore, KeJuSTA urged teachers not to respond to these unofficial letters. It reassured them that the courts would provide guidance on the matter before the 14-day response period expires. They emphasized that any official communication from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) should be sent directly to teachers’ addresses. TSC should avoid informal methods that could lead to confusion or intimidation.
