Permanent employment contracts for JSS Teachers
Ruto highlighted that many JSS teachers, who recently participated in a strike, are eagerly awaiting their transition to permanent and pensionable contracts.
He revealed that an allocation of 18 billion Shillings was initially included in this year’s finance bill to facilitate this transition.
“I had factored in 18 billion Shillings in this year’s finance bill to be able to transfer them to permanent and pensionable contracts,” he stated.

Despite the finance bill’s current status, Ruto requested patience from the teachers as he explores alternative solutions to fulfill his promise.
“Give me a bit of time to figure out how we are going to do it,” he urged.
The plight of intern doctors
Turning to the plight of intern doctors and young clinical officers, Ruto disclosed that 3 billion Shillings had been earmarked to support their employment. He said that his government had planned this under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.
He had also planned to allocate 10 billion Shillings to the UHC program within the finance bill.
However, with the finance bill no longer in effect, Ruto made a commitment to the medical professionals. He said his government is actively seeking ways to honor these commitments despite the financial constraints.
Important roles played by the young doctors and teachers
President Ruto emphasized his dedication to ensuring that the roles of teachers and medical professionals are not neglected.
He acknowledged the critical importance of their work in educating children and providing essential healthcare services.
