It seems Kenyan police officers are on a killing spree this year. It started with Corporal Caroline Kangogo killing Police Constable John Ogweno in Nakuru and Peter Ndwiga in Juja.
After the Kangogo saga, many cases of cold blood murder involving the men in blue have become so common. A conversation has started online to discuss the causes of depression among members of the police service.
Just before Kenyans come to terms to Police Constable Bernard Sivo killing his girlfriend Mary Nyambura then committing suicide, another strange case has been reported at Kangeta Police Station in Igembe Central Sub County, Meru County.
A prison warden identified as Edwin Omuse is on the run with a loaded G3 rifle hidden in a sack. The young man is stationed at Kangeta GK Prisons.
Edwin’s colleague Benjamin Ndunda made a report to Kangeta Police station through his mobile phone that his friend was heard saying that he was on his way to kill his wife in Thika.

Apparently, his wife had defrauded him of a cool KES 900,000 which he had acquired from a bank loan.
“Edwin was issued with G3 rifle no.77098145 today at around 1300hrs. It was loaded with twenty rounds of live ammunitions. He was heard saying that he was heading to Thika Town to kill his wife who defrauded him cash amounting to ksh.900,000/= which he had acquired from a bank loan,” read Benjamin’s statement.
Other police officers were dispatched to hunt him down before he commits the heinous act.
One can only imagine the pain of servicing a bank loan that has not helped you. Prison warders are not well paid. In fact most of them have bought motorbikes as side-hustles to supplement their meager salaries.
That is why their women should be very careful how they use their money. But there are always two sides of a story. Until we hear what the wife has to say, we cannot pass judgment.
